I’ve thought long and hard about what to write in this space, It’s not easy trying to think of something to say about yourself.
But I am a list maker… and so I thought, this is what I’ll do. I’m going to try really hard to stop it sounding corny but a few of them might sneak in there somewhere. So here goes nothing……… I am..
- wife and mother
- full-time worker
- avid reader
- house magazine subscriber
- house renovator {I’m pretty good at watching my husband do it}
- reality tv show watcher
- facebook stalker {just kidding} no seriously!!….
- overpriced scented candles purchaser {in a house with four males, doesn’t go down too well}
- Internet {addict} user
- over eater {I shouldn’t but I can’t walk past a patisserie without buying something naughty}.
- dreamer {I want my own homewares store one day. My parents, who have a store think I’m CRAZY!! “not all customers are as nice and easy to please as you my dear”!!}
- Declutterer – I like to help others and get paid for it!
- Bargain hunter
- Perfume lover
I’m also a lover… of
- my family and friends + two cats and resident possums
- Borrowing library books
- Clean sheets on the bed and rain on the roof. {even better when its the weekend}
- Turkish Delight and licorice
- Waking up in the morning and getting a little rush of excitement when you suddenly remember you have something new to wear. Or even just a new bottle of shampoo that you were talked into buying from the hairdresser.
- Frangipani Flowers {no, I don’t have the stickers on the back of my car!}
I could go on … are you still there???
Rosebush

trying to follow you. too much in common!
Ha Ha Hilarious 🙂 your about me is fab … cat pic is Cute !!!
Aww thanks!!! Rosebush is a quirky old girl. What is it with cats, they love to sit in the funniest of places. Usually when you’re trying to read a newspaper.
Hello new follower. My list would be strikingly similar to yours….if I had one on my about page. I love licorice, Turkish delight, the Internet, homewares mags, rain on the roof (on the weekend) and I would LOVE to own a homewares store!! I have a fondness for cats (we have two) and I love a bargain! So happy to have found your blog.
Mandy 🙂
Hi Jen,
I’d love to show off your home on my blog http://www.walkamongthehomes.com.au it’s all about Brisbane Drop me an email if you’re interested in knowing more, walkamongthehomes@gmail.com

That was so cute! We have a lot in common too :). Oh and thanks for liking my post about vintage bathrooms! Are you planning a
Reno soon too?
We sure are. We are trying to get the major reno started which is raising and building under the house. It seems to be taking for ever to get the ball rolling !! So while we wait, we do smaller jobs.
That sounds great! Fun 🙂
I love your ‘about me’. I think you got it bang on list maker:-)
Thank you! I think I need to update this list.
Hi Old Pearly Jenkins! (Where does your blog name come from?) Thanks for following my blog! I have just started getting some international followers, and it’s so fun to see what people around the world are up to! Now I’m following you, too. I’m a sucker for cats–Rosebush is adorable!
Hi D’Arcy. Pearl Jenkins was the first owner of our little house here in Brisbane. I look forward to following your adventures. Keep in touch.
Good Morning (our time),
When I saw that you liked one of my posts, I got really excited about your blog title. This is a great coincidence, but I still love it. My maiden name is Jenkins, and didn’t change until June when I got married. My maternal grandmother’s brother was Pearly, and he was a carpenter by trade. He and my grandfather and dad built the house I grew up in, and planed the lumber by hand. Though his last name was Hice, he was great friends with my grandfather, Harold Jenkins, and happened to be the same age. He died when I was pretty young, but I’ve often heard stories that started off, “One time, Old Pearly….” I see that the original owner of your house was Pearl Jenkins. The original owner of my house was Harold Hice. WHATTTT?? This is so neat. I guess you could draw a similarity between any two things in the universe if you worked hard enough, but I thought this was really cool. To top it off, our house is full of antique pieces (from Pearly and my grandfather Harold among others). I just love your style. I hope you’ll follow me. I feel like we’re kindred spirits from different generations across the globe. Happy Thursday!
Oh my goodness!!!!!!!
This is so special.
I’m really happy that our paths have crossed and I will definitely be following you now my friend.
Thank you for getting in touch.
Happy Friday!
Thanks for checking out our new blog! It is still very much under construction. Hope you’ll come by later when we have more going on!
Love your style! I want that yellow rug! And thanks for following
I’m with you – NOTHING beats curling up in clean sheets listening to the rain outside! And I’m also very good at watching my husband complete our renovation projects, haha! Cute ‘about me’ page and I like your home very much – excited to see what else you have in store for us 🙂
Thanks for finding my blog and leading me to yours. I love your list — so many items I found myself saying “yeah” to! Not the homewares store; I’d get waay too grumpy with pseudo customers and people who vacillated over the $15 vanilla candle versus the sandalwood. 🙂
Ha ha sounds like the pseudo customer might be me!!!
Thank you for visiting my blog too!!!
Hi , we live not far from you, and we have been renovating 15years now.I too love local history,and have been to the library to look up who built our house in 1915 off ekibin rd.
I too love possums, my kids call me the possum lady.I also get called crazy cat lady even though I only have one blue burmese.
Loved your pictures of mummy possum.
Sian I feel terrible!!!!
I’ve only just found this comment. We are so close . We should catch up!
