Seating for the porch.

Hello there

We’ve  all been busy working and so not a lot has been happening around our house but Mr F (lets just call him Fred) has the  school holidays off, perks of being a teacher hey!!.

He’s been busy building us a wonderful seat and cupboards to hide the shoes!!

Here is the porch area before.  The  old Shell boxes were holding the shoes.

The boys gave him a hand.

And finally a couple of coats of paint!

We’ve ordered framed micro lattice that will slot nicely into the space at the top.  It’s going to be white and will just give us a little bit of extra privacy.

A nice example of micro lattice.

The cupboards are brilliant and hide all the shoes away.  We don’t wear shoes in our house so the new seating is a perfect place to put on or take off your shoes.

The final thing to complete this area is to decide what to do with the concrete pad.  I’d really like to tile it with some black, grey and white Encaustic tiles but as we’re not very happy with the way dirt and grime sinks into them (despite sealing them TWICE) we’ll have to look for an alternative.

Finally….

We’re nearly ready to start.  We’ve found a bank happy to lend us the money to do the house.  We’ve now just got to find somewhere to live for a while and completely clear out all the stuff under the house!

We’ve rented some storage space and this afternoon we made a significant dent in the ‘pile’.

We also have to get rid of the hardwood timber battens and doors.  If anyone in Brisbane might know of someone who could use them, please let me know.  The timber is in very good condition and was put up in the last ten years.  We’ve also got to get rid of the front and back stairs too if anyone’s interested in them.

A shed for the garden.

When we lift the house, everything that we’ve got stored under it will have to find a new home. It’s all the usual stuff that most families collect, bikes, scooters, tools, Christmas tree etc. The house will have a car port  but no storage so we need to put a shed out the back.

We could put something in like this……  but I love these ones better, they’re sooo cute!!

We went to our favourite demolition yard and brought this door and a window. The door is very narrow. Just wide enough to get a lawn mower through. We’re not going to begin building the shed until we know whats happening with the excavation for the house. We brought the door and window now as I need a new project. I’ll strip, sand  and undercoat them and have them ready for when they’re required.
