Hello there
We’ve all been busy working and so not a lot has been happening around our house but Mr F (lets just call him Fred) has the school holidays off, perks of being a teacher hey!!.
He’s been busy building us a wonderful seat and cupboards to hide the shoes!!
Here is the porch area before. The old Shell boxes were holding the shoes.
The boys gave him a hand.
Doors for the shoe cupboards.
And finally a couple of coats of paint!
We’ve ordered framed micro lattice that will slot nicely into the space at the top. It’s going to be white and will just give us a little bit of extra privacy.
The cupboards are brilliant and hide all the shoes away. We don’t wear shoes in our house so the new seating is a perfect place to put on or take off your shoes.
The final thing to complete this area is to decide what to do with the concrete pad. I’d really like to tile it with some black, grey and white Encaustic tiles but as we’re not very happy with the way dirt and grime sinks into them (despite sealing them TWICE) we’ll have to look for an alternative.
That looks excellent! Interesting note about the encaustic tiles too.
Thankyou Johanne!
Last weekend we tackled the tiles in the bathroom and actually had to use a high pressure hose and liquid chlorine to remove the dirt from them.
They’re looking good again but for how long? And as I mentioned, in this post we don’t wear shoes inside the house. The liquid chlorine is not good for the tiles but they were driving us crazy.
What a cleverly functional idea! love the lattice work example, too.
Thank you Joanne!
It’s getting lots of use already. Our youngest son gets picked up in the morning by a school bus so this a fantastic place for him to wait and stay safe.
Your porch looks so nice! The bench and storage are a great idea. Love the pink door, too!
D’Arcy thank you!
I’m really happy to have a bright pink front door. Its a little bit of fun and can easily be sanded back and changed when we’ve had enough of the colour.
I love the new seating area storage. Gorgeous. The lattice will just top it off perfectly
Thank you so much. The lattice really will top it off, totally agree. It will also give us just that extra bit of privacy. Lovely neighbours but I’m sure they’ll appreciate it too!
Well done! Looks fabulous AND functional. 10 points for you!
Thank you Janet!
We’re really happy with the results.
Fred has done a great job having constructed cupboards for keeping the shoes, that space looks lovely with the dark purple paint, pink door, plant and that colorful mattress. Nice.
Thanks Maria!
This weekend we added the lattice. It looks really smart. Photos to follow asap
That is an awesome idea!! Perfect use of the space and plenty of function for a family.
I love the combination of the dark blue wall/storage with the pink door!
